Olympic sport karate can be good and bad. I have mixed feelings. The good part about it is that it will create more business especially young people. But the bad news is that we will lose the Dō. Olympic karate will be just like other sports. It will change people’s attitude. People will move one way (sport karate) or the other way (Dō). Kumite and kata will change; they will lose traditions and values. But Genbu-Kai students and members will not change. Dō will not change. We will continue to keep and live the traditional Budo way. – Sensei Fumio Demura
